Research Activities

The ISM-CNR X-ray Spectroscopy Laboratory is devoted to materials science studies; it is provided with different apparatus (both commercial and developed in-house) for materials and integrated systems analysis. The principal laboratory techniques available are: X-ray spectroscopy (both conventional and in Energy Dispersive mode), MicroRaman, AFM and complementary optical techniques (UV-Vis, FTIR). Specific focus is devoted to research activities in the field of Energy materials and devices (particularly for new generation photovoltaics, both organic and perovskite-based). Two in-hose developed apparata allow for structural/morphological studies of photovoltaic materials/devices:

  • in-situ joint AFM/x-ray investigations provides bulk/interface/surface properties and aging effects.
  • time-resolved X-ray spectroscopy under solar simulator, applied to photovoltaic systems, provides structural/morphological properties and aging effects under stress/working conditions.
